Thank you for the article on Duke Football. I'm excited about our new coaching staff and the upcoming season. Not too high expectations but looking for improvement in tackling, holding onto the football and better play calling by the staff. You're the best when it comes to everything Duke. GoDuke and GoRedbirds, lol. know you're a big Yankee fan.
I've been a Yankees fan since 1958, about the time I was old enough to memorize players and teams and leagues and stats and all that. I asked my father who is favorite team was and he told me it was the Yankees. You know how that goes. If I were starting from scratch I might very well land on the Cardinals. Solid management, great fans, tradition, a blend of experience and youth, internal development, free agent and trades. Some of my best friends are Cardinals fans and there's a lot to like there.
Oh, and Duke football. I very much like the approach. Careful, methodical, process-oriented, with an emphasis on teaching the basics and building from that.
Kevin Johns told us Saturday that Duke will have six, maybe seven wide receivers in the rotation. I'm sure Hagans will be in that group. He's not as experienced as Calhoun, Pancol, Harding or Robertson but I think he has a higher ceiling than any of them. He had a great spring and is having a great fall. He could be a big part of a Duke turnaround this season.
We also could see him returning punts. I think that is TBD.
Dear Jim, it’s so great after the DBR disappointment to know you’re still on the beat. I’ve counted on you for the best Duke coverage for years. I’ll be happy to contribute to keep it coming.

Tommy,
Thanks for the kind words.

Great to hear from you. You're missed these days at DBR. I hope you have a great future in whatever you do.
God bless.
Tommy
Thanks for the great article, Jim. Where does Sahmir Hagans breakout in the wide receiver competition?

Thanks for the reply. I’m anxiously awaiting the season opener to see the team in action.
