It's hard for me to see how Duke gained an advantage from that. I umpired up to high-school level and I didn't even know the rule existed. Of course, nobody had those hard-hat celebratory helmets either.

I guess we didn't need 9 runs for a win after all. Like you, Jim, I thought it would have to be a slugfest for a Duke win. Let's get one more win today and go from there.

You are correct Tommy. I was not sure 9 runs would be enough. The pitching was much better than I thought it could be vs GA.

I'm being told that because Gracia was ejected for having a prop (white hard hat) on the field, that means that Gracia also must miss the first game of Super regionals. I hope Duke protests and appeals such a suspension if that is indeed the case. The team just celebrated with each other very briefly right in front of their dugout after we took the lead 3-2 in the 8th.
