We all know about recency bias.
It’s so common, it has a name.
Recency bias.
So, you’re probably not real happy right now about the state of Duke men’s basketball.
Certainly, a few things went well Wednesday night. Kyle Filipowski and Jeremy Roach were warriors, willing Duke back into a game that appeared to be long lost. T.J. Power knocked down a couple of 3-pointers, suggesting a path forward for increased playing time. The press was somewhat effective down the stretch.
But the debits outweighed the credits. Duke wanted this win and played like a team that wanted to win. But Arkansas needed it, the way a fish needs water, the way a baby needs its mother, the way a mosquito needs my arms in the summer.
“Incredibly hungry - desperate for this game,” Jon Scheyer said of Arkansas after the game.
They played like it, playing with an urgency that Duke was only able to match sporadically.
