When Duke and Iowa square off Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic the country will get to see one of the early front-runners for national honors, a versatile 6-8 forward averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field, 40 percent on 3s and 85 percent from the foul line.
That’s the kind of profile we see usually see from a Duke player. But I’m talking about Iowa junior Kris Murray. No one from Duke remotely approaches Murray’s productivity.
Which begs some questions? Does Duke have a star? Does Duke need a star? And maybe a third question. Does Duke have a star in waiting, ready to emerge?
