Yesterday we looked at how Duke’s first-year men’s basketball coaches fared in their first ACC Tournament.
It was not a pretty picture. Bucky Waters, Neil McGeachy, Bill Foster and Mike Krzyzewski all lost their first tournament game. In fact, Foster and Krzyzewski didn’t win a tournament game until their fourth season at Duke.
But there’s an exception to every rule, they say, and the exception to this rule is an exceptional exception.
Nineteen-sixty wasn’t a memorable season for Duke basketball.
Until it was.
